Covid-19 Pandemic event for Subclass 408 visa
Department of Home Affairs has announced a revision to their previous Pandemic event subclass 408 visa with an updated version on 7 September 2020. It allows visitors or temporary visa holders to apply for subclass 408 visas who are unable to depart or apply for any other visas in Australia within 28 days before or after their visa expiring due to Covid-19 Pandemic.
Revised Pandemic event subclass 408 has an added clause. You are eligible to have work right under subclass 408 even if your current or last expired visa does not allow you to work in Australia as long as you can provide an offer of employment from an approved provider of an aged care service to undertake work in the aged care sector.
We have been noticing that if you apply for this visa and if you are not from the critical sector, the majority of the application does not get approved or refused. However, if you are working in the critical sector or have a job offer from the aged care sector then your chances of being approved can be as quick as less than a week.
