Prospective Marriage - Subclass 300
If you are an Australian Citizen, Australian Permanent resident, or Eligible Newzealand Citizen and want to bring your fiance or prospective marriage partner to Australia first and have the wedding here, this is the visa that is perfect for you. It is a temporary visa that allows you and your partner to arrange a wedding in Australia within nine months of your partner's arrival. To obtain a permanent residence, the applicant needs to apply for the onshore two-staged Partner visa, subclass 820 and 801 after the wedding and within the nine months of your partner's arrival in Australia.
(a) The couple must be known to each other personally.
(b) Evidence of contact that shows the development of the relationship.
(c) At the time of application lodge a Notice Of Intention to Marry (NOIM) with the celebrant.
(d) Provide a "marriage celebrant’s letter" to evidence a letter of proposal date.
(a) If you marry prior to the grant of Subclass 300, your application is automatically taken to have been made for the offshore partner visa subclass 309 and subclass 100 combined.
(b) If subclass 300 is granted, you cannot marry overseas unless you enter Australia on the subclass 300.
(c) Be mindful of sponsorship limitations and sponsorship approval requirements.
